For walking on the Isle of Wight you need the Ordnance Survey map: Outdoor Leisure 29

Distance: About 9 Miles. Then bus back to Yarmouth or walk the Freshwater Way back which is about another 3 miles. Yellow on map. Allow all day for this walk.

The coastal path on this walk is very well marked

On leaving the ferry terminal and reaching the road turn right and very soon you will cross the Yar bridge. Continue along the road and when it goes left you turn right down to the sea wall. Now turn left along the wall. At the end turn up into the trees where you will meet the road, now turn right.

Take the path into Fort Victoria Country Park and just keep to this path until you meet Monks Lane. Turn left and walk to the entrance to Brambles Chine holiday centre on your right. Walk straight through the chalets until you see a sign telling you to go left . After the path narrows you can choose either turn right down to the beach, then turn left along the sand for a short distance for Colwell Bay Seafront. Black on map. Picture below. May not be possible at high tide. Or turn left and walk to the main road turn right then right again down Chine Road for Colwell Bay.
