On the A286 between Midhurst and Chichester in the village of West Dean, Take the road opposite the public house. Drive carefully for about 1.5 miles and at the end of a long straight road when you meet a junction on your left park your car on the grass verge.

Start of walk From the start point head along Colworth Down. It is up hill all the way to point No2. |
Pass to the left of the charcoal burners |

Cross the wide track shown in the picture on the left and then take the diagonal track on your left through Venus Wood. Picture on the right. No1 on map. Keep on this path all the way to point No2 and then turn left. You now have an open field on your right. |

After a short distance you will see the boulder shown in the picture on the left,keep to the main track that is to the right. You soon come to the junction shown in the picture on the right where you carry straight on. The right turn runs up to the South Downs Way. |

You now start to go downhill, keep to this track as it swings to the right and then straightens up again with fir trees on your left.Eventually coming to the junction shown in the picture on the left, where you turn left and head downhill through fir trees for a short distance. Keep heading down hill as picture on the right. |

Wild daffodils grow here |
In the opening shown in the picture on the left is where in the spring wild daffodils grow. The area you are now in is looked after by the Sussex Wild Life Trust. |

Eventually the path narrows but still keep straight ahead all the way to the gate in the picture on the left to the road, where you turn left and after a few yards where the road in the picture on the right turns sharp left go straight ahead, into open fields with a fence on your left . |

Go straight over the stile and down to the road where just round the bend is your car. |
