As you approach Bignor the road turns sharp right carry straight on and then left through the farm buildings and on up to the car park on the top of the Downs

Start of walk

Take the stony track by the side of Bignor Post that heads towards the radio masts. Pass by with them on your left and keep on this wide track as it begins to go down hill. Ignore all paths to the left or right

Keep to this path as it drops down hill. It changes to a chalk track after the bend in the picture above

Just before a five bar gate the track turns right then left straight away. Be careful here the picture on the left and right show the path you take. Ignore all paths on the right that drop down hill

Continue on through the trees and at the gate in the picture on the left the path bears to the right through trees again. Keep going on this path as picture on the right.

After the next gate you cross an open field then follow a path with a fence on the left and trees to your right.Then up a grass incline to a seat that you can see in the picture on the right. No2 on map

Keep going on this path through a few trees and then follow a path with a field on your left that eventually swings to the right and drops downhill to the road. Picture on the left. Cross straight over the road over the stile and take the footpath to your right that runs diagonally across the field.Then along the side of a garden to the road in the picture on the right. Cross straight over and follow the path ahead.

This brings you to a gravel driveway and in a short distance a road. Go left here and look for the gateway into the church. Picture on the left. Follow the path around the church and look for the gate in the picture on the right. This brings you to a track where you turn to the right and follow it round behind a barn.

Continue a bit further to the next buildings and take the wide path on the right .As shown in the picture on the left. Before the end of the field take the stile on your right and the path goes diagonally to the left, round a slight corner to the stile in the picture on the right. Go straight up through some trees and you will now have a line of oak trees on your left and an open grassed area on your right

Carry straight on ahead as the picture on the left and follow the path across the field to the trees. Here you will see a gate go through and carry straight ahead, this is a right of way that passes through a garden.At the end of a building look to your left, picture on the right and go through the gate in the wall. Turn to the left down a narrow path and you come to the back of the pub at Sutton.

Footpath to Bignor from the pub

Walk past the front of the pub and take the path opposite. Picture on the left. After a short distance head straight across a field, over a stile, picture on the right, carry straight on to a stile. This then takes you round the back of Bignor mill pond. The path then goes left over a small bridge and through a damp area. that has been improved since the last time we came through by raising the path up.At the road turn right and after the houses turn right over some water,there is a sleeper to walk on. Follow this water round to the left and at the open field turn right

Before the corner of the field go through the opening in the picture on the left and head for the hedge in the same picture. Walk down the right hand side to a stile by a house. Over the stile take the road way that bears left down to the ford and then to the road.Turn left here and follow it all the way to the buildings you see in the picture on the right

Coldharbour Farm

Turn right here and follow the track which then bears left and goes straight up to the car park, where you left your car. Picture on the left.
