Gorselands caravan park is a quiet site overlooking the Chesil Beach that runs from Portland to West Bay. There is a small shop, laundry, and games room with pool table. You can walk to the beach on the footpath through the fields or walk the road way to West Bexington. On your way down there is a hotel with a bar. About two minutes from the site entrance is the pub at Swyre Phone number 01308 897232.

The picture on the right is the Chesil beach that runs from Portland to West Bay. Beach fishing is very popular from here. It's about ten minutes from the caravans. It is all pebbles and I don't recommend it for swimming as it gets very deep quickly, but it is a very nice and peaceful place to sit and walk. |

Portland near Weymouth |
A thin strip of land
with a bridge joins Portland to the mainland Out on the very tip is the
light house in the picture below. Portland
has a very rugged coastline but very interesting to walk around. Park
in one of the car parks at Portland Heights, take the road east and at
the end pickup the coastal path following it all the way to the light
house, then return back up the west side. The distance is about nine miles. |
